What is immediately noticeable is the thick and branched aerial root, which is different from every plant. Every plant therefore looks unique. The root is grown in China and Malaysia and grows for at least fifteen years. They are imported by Dutch growers and grown in the greenhouse as bonsai. Botanically speaking, it is Ficus microcarpa (= retusa) or a variety of them. 'Ginseng' is Chinese for 'root'.
